Project Details

About the project

For the third time, CNBC and Statista are awarding the “World’s Top Fintech Companies” in seven different market segments. In total 400 companies were awarded.
The top list is based on the analysis and weighting of overarching and segment specific KPIs derived from the following research methods:

1. Collection of publicly available data points:
Between March and May 2025, a team of analysts carried out in-depth research into relevant KPIs for a previously compiled longlist of eligible companies using publicly available sources such as annual reports, company websites and media monitoring.

2. Open online application form:
In an open online application period from February 26 to April 25, 2025, announced and promoted via the CNBC website, companies had the opportunity to be considered for the top list by submitting relevant KPIs.

In the consideration for the top list, overarching KPIs had a weight of 40% while segment specific KPIs had a weight of 60% to derive the final score. The companies with the highest score within their market segment were awarded as World’s Top Fintech Companies 2026
