How we work
Scoring
The scoring model is based on 2 pillars: National and international hospital recommendations from medical experts, and the voluntary Statista Smart Hospitals Maturity Survey.
Concept
The scoring is based on 2 pillars to increase the comprehensiveness of the ranking. Participants were asked to recommend hospitals based on their expertise in the field of smart technologies and were able to select a standout category for the recommended hospitals. The standout categories were: Electronic functionalities, Telemedicine, Digital imaging, Artificial intelligence, and Robotics.
Data Collection
Medical experts were invited by Statista and Newsweek to participate in a worldwide online survey to recommend hospitals on a national and international level. Recommendations for own employer were not allowed.
Additionally, the Statista Smart Hospitals Maturity survey was conducted to assess the implementation and usage of the participating hospitals’ digital technologies.
Evaluation
For the evaluation, Statista R applies a scoring model. The scores were calculated for each hospital in each of the 3 pillars and weighted as follows: National (45%) and international recommendations from medical experts (50%) and the Statista Smart Hospitals Maturity Survey (5%). Statista R reviewed every nominated hospital to ensure that awarded hospitals are known for technical innovations and a leadership role in the field of Smart Hospitals.
