About the project

The ranking for America’s Best Maternity Hospitals aims to provide expecting parents with a comprehensive resource for informed decicion making for the best sites for their childbirth. The list is based on a nationwide online survey, where healthcare professionals with knowledge about maternity processes were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the US. In addition, results from patient experience surveys and hospital quality metrics with a focus on indicators relevant to maternity care were analyzed. Based on pre-defined thresholds for each of the three data sources, awarded hospitals were grouped into two categories (5 ribbons/4 ribbons).
