About the project

In the corporate world, maintaining trust among customers, employees and investors is paramount for success in a competitive landscape. The ranking wants to provide guidance and to highlight the companies that are most trusted in the United States. Trust can have several characteristics and be viewed from different perspectives. Being aware of that, Newsweek and Statista developed a methodology which takes several aspects into account.

The list recognizes the 700 Most Trustworthy Companies in America in 23 industries. The study is based on two data sources:
1. An independent survey from a sample of about 25,000 U.S. residents, who rated companies they knew in terms of all three touchpoints of trust (customers, employees, investors).
2. Social Listening: This involved researching what was said about a company in various media segments of the internet and evaluating whether it was positive, neutral or negative. In total, over 304,000 mentions were gathered.
