Statista PROMs implementation survey
To account for the increasing importance of value-based care in healthcare systems worldwide, Statista is surveying hospitals regarding their Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) implementation status. PROMs are defined as standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their functional well-being and quality of life related to an episode or experience of care.
Newsweek and Statista recognize the importance of this topic for global advancements in healthcare delivery and, together with the guidance of Statista’s global board of medical experts, have developed a survey about the implementation and use of PROMs across different specialties and departments in hospitals. The implementation of PROMs adds a patient-outcome focused dimension and improves the comprehensiveness of the rankings.
The upcoming survey period for the PROMs implementation survey will begin in autumn 2025 and will be open for participation here.

How we work

Concept
Based on quality metrics Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data was analyzed to determine the quality of care provided. Statista R conducted a national online survey of health care professionals to collect recommendations of the best fertilitc clinics in the US. Recommendations for own employer were not allowed. Several accreditations were included in the evaluation. Google reviews were included in the scoring model as a proxy of patient satisfaction.

Data collection
Four data sources were evaluated to identify the nation’s leading fertility clinics.
(1) Assisted Reproductive Technology metrics with a focus on indicators relevant to fertility clinics published by CDC were analyzed. The quality metrics are based on the most recent CDC’s ART Success Rates Report.
(2) From January to February 2025, Statista and Newsweek invited reproductive endocrinologists, infertility specialists, obstetricians/gynecologists working in and referring patients to fertility clinics, other medical professionals (e.g., registered nurses, laboratory assistants) and fertility clinic administrators/managers working in fertility clinics to participate in a nationwide online survey. Participants were asked to recommend the best fertility clinics in the US and to assess the quality of diagnosis of fertility problems, treatment of fertility problems, fertility counselling, accommodation & service, overall nurse staffing for each recommended clinic.

Data collection
(3) Accreditation data on fertility clinics provided by The Joint Commission (JCI), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) were considered.
(4) Google reviews were added as a proxy of patient satisfaction.

Evaluation
The evaluation of the clinics was based on a scoring model including four pillars: ART quality metrics score (50%), reputation score (35%), accreditations score (10%), patient satisfaction score (5%).
